Play Online not working on PC

Here is my problem. I type in Chess.com in my browser, log into my account, hover the mouse over Play, then click Play to move to the Play Online feature. However, once I get to the screen, a text box says in the bottom right corner: "Please wait, it's taking longer to connect". This is a constant occurrence that started about 2 months ago and have progressively gotten worse to the point when I need to log in on my iPhone and play Online games for the Players League.

Puzzles, and computer games, Analysis Board, and Chess TV all work fine for me. My internet connection is completely fine on all other websites. How do I fix this? I emailed Support and they told me to clear all my browser history, cached items, and cookies. That's something I would rather not do if I can avoid it, seeing as I am not the only person who uses this computer and I don't want to delete other site data. Any solutions?

You can clear only the cookies and cache related to chess.com.

How do I get to that screen?

I just cleared all 5 cookies for Chess.com. Did not fix a thing. Play Online still does not work, neither does Live Chess.

I don't know what else to tell you. I guess I would write to [email protected] again.

Same issue for me just started today. Tried clearing all data from Chrome. Won't work in Microsoft Edge either. I've tried everything. Updated drivers. Any suggestions?

What happens when you try to play?

It just keeps searching for an opponent, then eventually gives the message "Please wait, It's taking longer than usual to connect"

You have recent games in your archive and are playing now

Hi guys. My apologies in advance as some of you may be sick and tired of my complaints. I have been using this site for four years with barely any problem. however, for the past five weeks I have suddenly, been having the same old problems, "please wait, taking longer than usual to find a pairing..." and when I do click play, I am informed that I am already playing so, "cannot create a challenge" when I am clearly NOT PLAYING! Today and yesterday, I received a notification that my game would auto abort because it was my move when it clearly wasn't my move! It was my opponent's clock that was counting down and when I did try to move I couldn't because it was my opponent's clock THAT WAS COUNTING DOWN!! My husband has called in a technician who drilled a hole through our ceiling so that he could pass a cable so that my computer could be plugged DIRECTLY into the modem giving me a very fast internet speed and no, our router is not busy. One of the members has very kindly responded to my frantic messages but has been unable to help so please, please, can someone shed some light? Does anybody else have this problem? Yes, I have done everything that has so far. been suggested. There are times when this site works beautifully, just like before but all of a sudden, it has become totally unreliable.
