Membership Email

I received an email from Chess.com saying:

We've Gifted You a
Free Diamond Membership!

However, when I log into the site, my access is still limited to Gold. 

Is this a scam email?

Write to [email protected] and include a copy of the email.

The site will never modify an existing subscription when receiving a gift. The gift amount is credited to your account and if you want to upgrade, you would need to do it and the credit would be applied to the purchase cost. If you do upgrade, you'll want to downgrade at the gift term end or your original balance term will decrease as the new level will use any remaining credit.

I have also received this email and currently have no membership. when I click the link it just takes me to chess.com home page but with nothing changed.

If I go into upgrade it asks for my card details to pay for diamond membership
