Hey Martin,
Then what is the remedy. Will refreshing the page help?
In the past, that was always my suggestion. If you are on the Play > Live Chess interface, then that should work. Not sure on Play (Beta)

Won't refreshing the page get rid of the game?

I will try next time, if I play live chess!
I just experienced this now.. interestingly my opponent had a slight edge and should find a relatively easy win. Hard to say what caused it but I doubt it is foul play or a hack device. Surely though if it was server issues then neither my opponent nor myself would win and I wouldn't have lost the points. A bit disappointing that it doesn't retain the game for longer, to regain a connection.
It could be a Socket time-out. It happens many times, when I use the mobile phone as WiFi hotspot. It helps to go to any browser and load a new page. This "wakes up" the connection, and the game can proceed.

There are some connection settings that may assist if that is the issue.

They could allow us more time to reconnect. That has nothing to do with our end. I can't play blitz or rapid on here if I constantly get disconnects. I have to go to other competing chess websites to enjoy live games.
Time to reconnect is completely dependent on the time control, with a max time to reconnect for longer ones.

Chess.com has not figured out how to fix the problem of hackers causing disconnection when they are losing. Sorry to say, you must leave the site. Go to another chess playing program. Chess.com cannot fix the problem.

Your opponents aren't hacking your connection. The would have to hack the live server process completely and that isn't happening.
I use two sites as differing sites offering different benefits, key benefits from chess.com as far as I can see are 1/ Chess analysis, with moment interaction following each game 2/ A lot of players use this server, including celebrity names 3/ the platform offers learning modules and puzzles - To fix : If I only have one browser window open, usually the game is stable.
Alternatively I use a different site for casual anonymous games when dwindling time, one which even if it drops off for 30 seconds, will still return to the game. Not sure how useful that is though bearing in mind the other player will probably notice a connection loss.
Cons are, I also find I can't play chess.com using my android phone due to an unstable connection drop. It's definitely not hackers though.
I've been having this problem for the past month now. They said delete your cache and I did and the problem came back 2 days later. I'm not deleting my entire browsing history every time I want to play a game of chess properly. Cancelled my membership today.
My experience when using the app is that if I am in the disconnect state, it will recover if I was waiting for the opponent to move when it was disconnected, however, if it disconnected before I moved then it will not recover and the disconnection will last till the end of the game. There is one way of resolving the issue:: in this second state it will immediately recover if I offer a draw. Unfortunately this is usually accepted if I am winning.
I noticed if I have multiple windows open at the same time, like multiple games running at the same time - this seems to also contribute to the disconnecting mid game. Although over the past few months the platform has been stable for me. I haven't come across a disconnect issue for a long time now.
It has happened multiple times recently that I am winning a game but lose it on time due to "abandonment" or something. My internet is well connected and I have 3 ISPs.
When I quickly connect back to the chess.com, the ongoing game neither shows up automatically nor in the game history (until I lost) in such suspicious event.
Here are the 2 such games in my recent memory:
I will try one solution. Every time close and open the chess.com to start a game, so a fresh URL is generated. Copy that URL and try to reconnect it back when such thing happens.
I am disconnected from lives games for no reason whatsoever, I know for a fact it's NOT my internet as everything else works without an issue. The connection comes back IMMEDIATELY after time runs out. What on earth are these servers?
Main suspicious issue is connection reestablishes itself as soon as the time runs out.
The chess.com should see if there is some malicious persons are doing mischief.
I stopped playing live chess and playing only daily chess and vote chess.
The client code will end up forcing a reload when it thinks the game ends, such as a timeout for your opponent.
There are a lot of things that can cause a disconnect with the live server process and your opponent isn't one of them.
What I struggle with is the fact that I can't do anything about it and I will ALWAYS lose because of it. It's really annoying.
