Losing connection during games at Chess.com

Sort:
colonyroad

I am experiencing a connection problem specific to the ongoing games on chess.com.  I receive a message that i have lost the internet connection.  But all other apps work and so do all other chess.com apps such as tactics.  The only app that I cannot connect to is the going game.  I can only reconnect after the game ends. As anyone else experienced this problem?

The Live server process is separate from the rest of the site. If you are on the actual app, just using tactics doesn't mean that you have a connection the chess.com servers, since some tactics are cached (though it should then show as unrated if that is the case).

This happened to me in a game I was winning. I made a move that trapped my opponents queen, and I was winning another piece, then suddenly, I lose connection in the ongoing game. Now, all other sites are working since my browser is open, and I could try different pages and all worked except for this game. Eventually, I opponent won because of "game abandonment." To be honest, it sucks, and only play for fun nowadays, not for the competition. I hope that when I get matched with a player, it will be a player who is genuine.

There is absolutely NO reason why my connection would suddenly drop when I am using a fast connection and connection to other sites is up and running.

Same happens to me quite often.  I only lose internet connection while I am playing on chess.com. I guess it is some kind of a hacker tool or commands being sent.

There is something odd going on. I only lose connection when I am winning or ahead on time! When I am losing (which is often) the connection never drops. Being cynical, I feel some scumbags know how to hack the server to their advantage. This site has lost all credibility for me now.

it happens the same to me at the end of 2 consequtive games when i was winning the conection goes down and it goes up just after time of the game elapses...this is not good for this site which i like a lot otherwise

so how do you re-connect?  I was winning and then lost connection and there is no button to re-connect.  I had to sit and watch as I lost the game.  There must be a re-connect button?

Some people know how to hack this site to their advantage. They are usually from the [removed -- VP]

This used to happen to me quite often, but I found a great solution. My game history shows exactly how I fixed the problem.

Yes it happens to me quite a bit! I wrote about it on a post here yesterday! Some agree and say the same as you, as one or two idiots say it’s my internet (which it isn’t) There’s been quite a few say the same thing about it disconnecting during games! It’s more than “an internet problem!!”

Could you shed some light on how you actually did solve this?

Sure. As you can see from my game history, I haven't played a single game on chess.com in over a year. So when I do play a game of online chess, which is fairly often, I no longer get disconnected. Problem solved.

I have a disconnection issue that doesn't seem to be covered above

. I will get a disconnection message on the server. I just got a new laptop so excessive cookies etc not an issue. Connection goes but will often return in a couple of minutes.

If I'm on my tablet, I don't see this issue even though it is also on wi-fi  and not 4G. My question would be is my browser based chess.com causing this issue while the app on my tablet stays connected better?

Chess. com keeps telling me I have an unstable connection and disconnects. I never had the problem until recently. A bug in the latest software?

To follow up on my last post, the connection problems on my laptop are frustrating but I'm not sure its solely a chess.com issue because it happened to me on another web based site also. As  others have said ,internet is fine but server loses connection. I have looked at the links and suggestions on site but that doesn't seem to solve.

I'm presently experimenting on a site that uses a downloaded client software to see if the same thing happens. If that turns out to be more reliable I may play my live chess there and downgrade my chess.com a little but not give it up. Chess.com seems to be the best site out there except for this server connection issue.

This illustrates a page I couldn't find on the site. So no help.
