I cant change my username

I go straight to the settings page and try to change username but i get this message "To avoid confusion, you may not change your username while connected to Live Chess or registered for any Live Chess competition. Please try again after you are done playing."

If you keep getting that, close out of all other tabs and log out. Log back in and immediately change your username.

cant belive how poorly this works, or how it does not work at all.

What happens when you try to change it?

I tried the methods and none has worked..

LOG OUT OF CHESS.COM AND LOG BACK IN AND DONT START ANY NEW GAMES THEN CHANGE YOUR USERNAME, that’s what at least worked for me

Same for me. I closed all browsers and tabs and cleared cache/cookies. Logged back in and still get this message:

"To avoid confusion, you may not change your username while connected to Live Chess or registered for any Live Chess competition. Please try again after you are done playing."

i think when you write something in the status it might work (for me atleast)

insane how badly this works.. driving me mad

The same thing happens to me. But I was able to do it by clearing site cookies. This is the guide I used for Firefox browser.

You can only change your username once.

Yea I need to change my name because apparently Grand Wizard is KKK related.. lol I did NOT know that when I created it

But it's not working.. It says the whole while you're connected to a live challenge.. I'm not even playing a game. WTH
