Highlighted squares

Sort:
Campilongo

Its a minor issue but it bothers me a bit, I dont understand why when I see other people highlighting squares they have a really strong red color, but when I do it its really like, kinda pink

I already tried with different board backgrounds and pieces, also switching between light mode and dark mode, I cant figure out what makes it change.

yes I already have the option enabled, I just want to know why the color is different than most people and how can I switch it if I want to

llama47

Oh, I don't know, sorry.

I'm also wondering this - I can't figure out how to get the darker highlights after looking through all the settings.

llama47

For chessbase and lichess you can change the color by holding ctrl, shift, alt, or some combination of 2 of the keys.

I haven't tested this with chess.com though.

Its not a different color, if u watch streamers like Hikaru or Naroditsky whenever they normal highlight a square its just a way stronger red than the one I showed in the picture of my board

^ this. the one I see streamers have is strong, dark red/yellow/blue/green. when I do it, it looks washed out like the screenshot above.

llama47

It might just depend on the theme you're using. The screenshot of the streamers has a blue board... I know that's sort of a obvious thing to say, but maybe it's that simple.

tortilla1312

when I say I've looked through all the settings, I mean it - here's the same board and piece theme as the streamer in the screenshot above. look at the color difference.

llama47

Sorry man, I don't know much about it, but I'm just trying to help grin.png

At least if a staff member sees this they'll know you're not kidding when you say you've really tried.

ive done the same literally tried all different settings options lmao, weird thing that happened tho, some thines while playing tournaments on live chess i get the strong red highlights but also no draggin on the pieces and worse piece image quality, its really random too so idrk what to make of it

llama47

I know there's a beta version or something? With different options.

I wonder if that's related.

andy_cold

wow exactly what I was looking for too. I cant find the answer and also sometimes they analysis as white and black I cant get that too who they do it.

Campilongo

i already found out whats the difference, if u start a game or tournament from the live chess tab its the darker colours and arrows, anything but live chess its the lighter colours

Jubec42

Same issue here, haven't found how to have bright colours instead of washed out colours, I'm using Safari btw

Zebbzzy

If you choose live game and get to the analysis board from here, you will see what they're seeing. with the darker highlights (as Campilongo previously mentioned)

As to why it is darker I do not know, but it seems this is where they're starting their games and recording their videos. It is also really easy to throw a PGN into this section as well.

etothlnx

You just hold alt, ctrl, or shift while right clicking.

MasterTheja2008

You should get membership because the people who have darker hilights are all platinum gold or diamond members

GrandmasterInProgress2

probably just a different computer screen setting, that makes a stronger red, i think it's a colorblind setting
