Blocking users

What all does it do? Will it make it so they can't join my games and if I try to start a new game, it won't automatically put me in one of theirs?

 Help FAQ

If you go to your "Privacy Settings" (http://www.chess.com/home/privacy.html) you will see a section at the bottom of the page where you can enter a username to block. When you block a user they will not be able to post notes to your account or send you any messages.

I know. I read that. I'm wondering if it does anything else.

If that's all it does, then is there any way to blacklist someone so they can't join your games?

I dont think so... it would be brilliant if blocking someone did block them from games as well though.

 Agreed.

Failing a complete block, make a note of the name and just don't play them.

I believe it is just our FAQ that is out of date here. Blocking users does prevent them from much more than just that. They can't join your open seeks, you won't be auto paired with them in seeks, they can't join your tournaments, and theres probably a few more I'm missing as well.

aye, yerself, cause otherwise ye'll be tempted ta play with yerself too much and tis hard to play chess when ye go blind ;)

(on a serious note though... blind and chess.. i know there is blindfold chess but i wonder ifthere are chess sets which are basically braille.. fer those who are actually blind.. sorry random thought fer the day)

I have played against a blind man in an OTB tournament before, and yes, we had two chess sets, the one I was using and his own. His own set was just a normal set except the pieces had pegs and pegged into the board below, and he would run his hands all over the pieces constantly on this smaller pegged board as he "looked" at the position. Then he would audibly tell me his move and I'd move the piece on the real board.
