Aimchess.com down

Hi all,

Aimchess.com is down and their app not working for two days now. Does anyone know what's going on? 

I've an active subscription and hope it will be back soon.

It's a known issue and all fixes are in place waiting on some back-end (third-party) updates to be completed to be fully fixed.

Someone forgot to pay the renewal fee for the aimchess domain name so it expired and went into a 30 days redemption period (meaning anyone can buy the aimchess.com domain after that) and it's essentially "taken off the internet" in the mean time. In my past experience this could take more than a week to resolve even after you pay to renew when the domain name expires.

'Hi , We're aware of the issue and are working on a fix at the moment. Thanks for letting us know' is shown on Facebook by Aimchess.

Some people have already access to Aimchess, some don't (like me eh). But I expect it will be up soon. But no ETA.

It's out of the site hands for now waiting on updates to complete.

Are there any plans on improving the site or the app? the last update was 2 years ago?

i love aimchess and would love to see it getting better.

Oh my, ZenithLee! Great you did show some info, thank you. It didn't look believable in your previous post. I don't get it that they screw up like that. It really looks like they didn't pay the renew fee.

How much do they cherish their current paying customers? Maybe they wake up and improve.

It's good to know that it isn't just me. I uninstalled and re-installed the app several times. It's frustrating that it hasn't been working for so long. Hope it gets up and running soon.

I also love aimchess.com and I hope it's only a technical issue. Chess.com, please take care of your products. Aimchess is a valuable resource for many of us, and it's frustrating when it's offline. Can we get an update on the situation and when it might be resolved?

Everything that can be done from the site side has been. It's waiting now on backend updates to complete.

Could you be more specific? What updates are we talking about? Is this just the DNS entry or something else? Why is the backend out of your control? Who is responsible for the updates and what is their ETA?

I agree to this. I've been premium at aimchess for a while and now it's been down without a single notice, without ETA... Users have to investigate by themselves on either reddit or chesscom... There is still an Aimchess link from Chess.com which links to a 404...

As SzenithLee said, it could take a week or even more. So unfortunately it could take a while.

I do agree EchecCritique! We had to investigate ourselves. Couldn't they at least send an email with an update? And it is really amazing that Chess.com is still linking to an offline Aimchess site.

Anyway, more time to play chess games for us. Hopefully Aimchess + Chess.com will have more motivation to improve Aimchess.

I don't know the specifics, just what other members have posted on that front. I know staff have done all that they can at this point and now it's waiting on some provider updates.

Based on a post by another member it's waiting on domain registrar updates to complete.

Hope they get it back soon. I’m a paid up subscriber and do enjoy using the site.

Aimchess website and app are still down for me. Emails to [email protected] are undeliverable. I'm a paid aimchess subscriber also. Hoping this gets fixed soon.
