Can't help but notice so many cheats. And the system can hardly cope. So what is the point of cheating? No prize.

The reward is the elo, division, success and only for win.

I create an account and i use theonespy for each game and amazing to see everyone cheated, everyone... they use chess analyzer of lichess or stockfish (i saw one with an IA...).

i understand better why some parents deny them children to play on kind of website because massive cheating and some friends don't play chess but they know the website by reputation (one of worst in the world who welcome the cheater in the video game sector). Very surprised to hear that.

Tools for catch cheater are very very weak, maybe good in 1980 but now it's very bad. It's as like you are close of dye but we try heal you with a candy.

People cheat in chess primarily to gain an unfair advantage, often using computer engines or external help during games. Fire kirin

First to answer the question: some people cheat because they can't deal with losing, be it out of anxiety or a fragile ego, lust for elo to show off to others - there probably are several reasons but the root is an inability to cope with a loss in a meaningful way.

I'll have to add that "self deiagnosed" cheating of opponents is a pseudo science and the road down to paranoid general suspicion on anybody that beats you in a way you don't understand is a very quick one. People think their opponent is cheating way to often, they don't present any proof and yet they're convinced they're right - that doesn't seem sensible.

I'm not saying cheating isn't happening, I'm saying the number of unfunded accusations is too high.

Then if you don't know the code and performance of some anti cheating software then what does your opinion about it matter?

Loki_god_of_deception

cause they suck, and are scared to admit it.

Problem is that chess is associated with intellect and everyone remembers being “great” when they were a kid. then they come online and realise how hard it is. But they’ve already told everyone how good they are so they cheat. It makes them feel smart. Sad.
