We play chess to get a superiority feeling

Playing online really is ridiculous. You can't see what your opponent is up to, and cheating is so easy and prevalent. CC claims the ban about 60,000 people/month for cheating, and my guess is this huge number is really only a small fraction of the problem. CC gets paid for ads seen by freeloading cheaters, so it's not in their financial interest to close their accounts, as they'd lose tons of ad revenue. So they let it keep happening, and once in a while they close a few accounts, only to see the cheaters come back because they don't IP ban them.

The worst part is even titled players are cheating! This is truly repugnant. So basically there's no point to online chess, especially on this site. Why am I here? It eats up the time, and I can't doom-scroll the news on Twitter all day.

Ip bans do t work they use Vpns, memberships give them more money than adds do ,and yes it is beneficial to close their accounts you wouldn't want a titled player or someone really good cheating would you ? That would cause a lot of controversy

Other than that I guess ,I don't really care tho even if ten percent cheat that's still 90% of people not cheating

With all of the Computers & AI in Chess, why do humans play chess anymore online?

It's fun to do and a lot more people are more lagitimate opponents than you think I'm supposed to be in the "problem area " of cheaying but I typically don't get more than one a day (maybe even only two a week ) but that's just cause I grind way too much

Tbh at higher levels rapid can be a bit painful tho(specifically 2000-2100+)

I bet if you polled the site of all users, they would say that maybe 99% of us don't care for playing computer Chess or CC as the dude above said

Probably closer to 30% then again that would mean 99% wouldn't improve according to what you're saying as usually blaming losses on things like stockfish causes you to give up

Then again I don't get the sense most people cheat (I get alot of cheaters to lol but usually that's casual challenges not in the random pool ) blitz chess in the random pool is less than 10% for me typically

I think the problem is most people don't know what exactly cheating is and even if they know what it is most can't detect it correctly

It has been here for over 1000 years so it was already ingrained in culture. That is the same reason why chess AI was invented, it was something we could do with this new ability. There is no purpose in letting the AI do something humans can too. Chess AI has been used to make bots to practice and analysis with accurate data from Stockfish and other AI. Since cheaters using it against humans are generally frowned upon, all over the board chess has to be played with humans with a few exceptions.
