They’re not even afraid to show me how to cheat! Someone sent me a link to a website where you can play like you’re rated 1700, 1900, 2000, or whatever you want. They shared it through Chess.com chat, and there’s no way to send screenshots to Chess.com. Between ratings of 800 and 1200, you’d be surprised at how many cheaters you’ll face. Some people even sent me their games against cheaters, and those players are still active.

Chess.com should be impressed if someone like Levy or any other YouTuber made a series called Cheaters on Chess.com to expose this issue.

Although you cannot send screenshots of the chat to chess.com directly, you are able to report someone for the reason of cheating and then follow up in the text box saying what they did.

Qader884

Recently, they’ve started ignoring report messages.

Chess.com is the only chess platform i play against opponents that will hit stockfish best moves and then blunder the last obvious checkmate. Tell me your a robot without saying it…

this. cheat is not only annoying, particularly in the 1100-1250 range, it is also a tool used by psychopaths or racists to harass people. I don't think there is a lot of cheat above 1300. it is more a beginner thing, or a psychopath thing.

Also, it’s the only place where you start playing against someone making nonsensical moves, and after 15 moves, once you’re up a couple of pieces, Magnus Carlsen suddenly jumps in! and says " I am "Magnus Calson"

many cheaters exist on this site. And yes once you get to 1200 it gets extremely bad. All online gaming has really bad experiences with cheating. Only way to fix it would be lock these computers indefinitely. Which will never happen. It’s really too bad if you’re on here to just improve and get an overall idea of your rating. You have to just take it with a grain of salt and understand that when you take into consider the sandbaggers and cheaters your probably at least 100 rating points higher then is leading on. It’s still very frustrating though I’m with you!

I'm noticing a very interesting pattern... every player that has the right to make any judgement calls is agreeing that you're mistaken. Every weak player who doesn't have enough experience to make any of these judgemental calls is agreeing that cheaters are everywhere. Find a new excuse please.

Hmm. They closed more than 70,000 accounts last month.

The perception of cheating levels is orders of magnitude more than the actual amount.

The site doesn't keep cheating accounts around. It closes them when they are found. The process has a high level proof, so it can take time on occasion for accounts to be closed.

The site closed more than 63,000 accounts in September for fair play violations and has a full team of staff working on reports along with some automated systems for detection.

That said, discussions of cheating, potential cheating, or cheat detection are not allowed in the general forums. If you want to discuss join the following club once you've been a member for at least 30 days.
