From experience, this is happens due to missed opportunities, mistakes, and blunders; NOT a lack of skill; don’t get the two mixed up. You can tell a lack of skill when your opponent is simply outplaying you; they’re making better moves than you are. When you miss chances, you are making WORSE moves than they are (and no, it’s not the same concept).
tactics are, in MY opinion overrated. Tactics are good to have as an arsenal, but the opponent has a role to play in EVERY SINGLE TACTIC YOU KNOW IF YOUR NOT GOTHAMCHESS! Learn development. learn how to exploit weaknesses. and only sacrifice pieces. do not give them away. if you sacrifice them to gain an advantage. then it is fine. play unrated games more often to perfect your technique. look at every piece on the board and see is it hanging and can it be taken. if the opponent is sacrificing. do not take it
