So why does chess.com have two leaderboards then? What's the difference? Chess.com has the leaderboard system that you linked, but chess.com also has another leaderboard system called "live chess ratings" and on that leaderboard I should in the 44th place (in New Zealand) but I'm not, why?
Why am I not shown on the chess.com leaderboard?

Navigate over to the News tab on the left-hand side of your screen, then click on Chess Rankings and it takes you to another leaderboard.

1. The News section is about Chess news (meaning professional players)
2. It shows the classical, rapid, and blitz ratings. Chess.com currently does not have a classical time controls.
3. It is showing the current OTB ratings for all the top players.
That part is effectively a screen scrape of 2700chess.com.
I hate to say it, but the only place where 1350 is in the top 40 would be Antarctica.

I don't know about that. There were some small countries in the Olympiad that had ~1600s on the team. If a 1600 is top 4-5 in a country, it is conceivable a 1350 could be top 40. But NZ is not such a country.

It literally says I'm in the 45th place on the New Zealand leaderboard (chess rankings leaderboard, not online leaderboard), if only I played OTB, obviously I'm not in 45th place right now because I'm not playing OTB at any tournaments. Come on guys haha.

The leaderboard has slightly changed since my last message, but you can see that the 40th to 50th place is around 1350 - 1500. Can you guys not read or something?

You really have no idea how non-existent chess is in New Zealand do you. In fact if you said you played chess in New Zealand you would probably get beaten up on the spot. It's heavy disliked in New Zealand, it's seen as a stupid game, and it might be like that for a lot of countries but it's most severe for New Zealand.

You are assuming your ~1350 chess.com rapid rating would correlate to the same as a FIDE rating. More than likely, you would not even qualify for an official FIDE rating.

I've been playing chess for just under a year and my rapid rating is 1350. On the chess.com leaderboard, with New Zealand only selected, I should be around 40th on the leaderboard based of my rapid rating, but yet my name does not show up, why? Is there something I have to do to appear on the leaderboards?; or are the leaderboard only based on over-the-board ratings and not online ratings?
