What's is Magnus Carlsen's IQ?

Has anyone considered that his IQ might actually be quite low? Perhaps a lot of people here are exhibiting a bit of confirmation bias. Now, undoubtably in chess he is the best, but take a look at his academic record - it's very unremarkable. This could well be because he concentrated on chess from a very young age. As such, there is a possibility that he's a bit of a 'one trick pony' i.e. he's great at chess but not much else.

I was recently watching a stream from another GM who was doing a general knowledge quiz - I was shocked at how poor they were. Now general knowledge has nothing to do with IQ as such (although doing well at IQ tests can be learnt easily), but this emphasised to me how little they knew outside of chess.

So for all of you thinking that Magnus's ability in chess means he's a genius, you should also consider the counter argument that he could well be below average due to concentrating on solely on chess, a board game.

Fundamental base of chess and what we consider iq overlap. This means being by far the best intuitive chess player gives an indication and in my opinion shuts down the possibility of lower than average iq.

I don't think the link is that straight forward, certainly not in peer reviewed research, for example: Does chess need intelligence? — A study with young chess players - ScienceDirect

A quote from the abstract: "When an elite subsample of 23 children was tested, it turned out that intelligence was not a significant factor in chess skill, and that, if anything, it tended to correlate negatively with chess skill. This unexpected result is explained by a negative correlation between intelligence and practice in the elite subsample."

The study amounts to nothing if it doesn't factor in amount of chess experience. The participants would have to start from scratch and amount/quality of practice should be be controlled to accurately measure iq's role in their progression with chess. If that was the case Id expect more of a correlation with iq and chess ability.
