There is no ranking that "you should have", unless you want to be a pro player, which is a terrible idea.

Solid philosophy. Life is much more than a kid's game.

I started playing chess around 11 so I wasn't even rated at 9 lol. If you want to improve and increase your rating, feel free to check out some of my videos. I think they'll help you.

Age isn't an indication of where your rating should be. Just keep playing and learning—the rating will work itself out over time.

The avg is 800

That’s the avg

your rating should be 1087, calculated with a secret formula

At least that’s what google said

i mean magnus carlsen was beating GMs at 9 IIRC, so no reason you shouldn't be closing in on that.  🤷‍♀️

if you arent at least 2100 by the time you turn 10 you arent gonna have any chances to become a top 100 player nowadays. in fact there are some kids born 2010 that are over 2200

it is sad. this shud drive people away from making the top players idols. they simply had some adult push them, paid money for high level training, much like making their own little robot kid. u cud get really good starting later, but without training, chances are never beyond 2000-2200 and that's low relative to the top.

boycott, play other games, or just goof around playing the chess u r use to playing.

It is too bad age and rating don't correlate. Given I will turn 59 this year, I would probably be a grandmaster!🤣

The thing is, why would anyone want to become a top player? If you want to be a top player you need to waste your whole childhood and teen years studying like crazy (Even if you have talent, you will still need to spend tons of time), and for what?
Chess may be your passion, but let's look at it realistically.

- Unless you are Magnus Carlsen or somebody on that range of level you will always struggle a lot financially. And I don't think you will want to spend your whole life training tactics and openings to end up giving lessons to kids just to be able to pay your rent.
Chess is one of those professions where good money is only for the best in the world, if you are not one of the best then you have nothing to do.

- You will suffer huge mental breakdowns with frequency. World is not an easy place for anyone, but professional chess players are in constant stress. They need to win tournaments so they always live with that pressure. Look at their faces when they play blitz or are running out of time. It is painful to even look at them.

- Society won't take you seriously. Someone ask you what you do for a living, you answer "I am a chess player", and the vast majority of people will look at you with cringe.
If playing chess is the only thing you do for a living most people won't respect you. Nowadays people will even respect more a YouTuber,  Influencer or gamer than a chess player.

ikr, kinda like that thing that mom teaches, only if ya get to the top you'll make money, even if u are only a smol idk, programmer, professor, etc, you'll never have to worry about rent
