The Future of Chess

Currently we are witnessing history for chess: recently 18-year-old Gukesh D. became the youngest ever World Champion and not only that but it was against Chinese grandmaster Ding Liren who won the last one. He won by resignation after Liren blundered and resigned, knowing it was a lost position. Now, even crazier is that Magnus Carlsen returned to the World Blitz Championship after the dress-code scandal. Although he was angry about the situation he decided he had to come back and play the tournament. What are your thoughts on the current situation of the #1 chess player and Grandmaster (Magnus Carlsen)?

Carlsen is MUCH better than Gukesh.

Even at 45, he will beat him.

I don't remember a sillier mistake than Ding's in the last game.

The match wasn't worth highly in terms of game quality.

Gukesh is just lucky.

And more importantly, the day Ding lost, Gukesh was psychologically on a high.

I don't regard Gukesh as worthy champion.

Carlsen is STILL better.

Firouzja is ALSO much better, has much better understanding of chess, just Gukesh is favoured by psychological vibes, Firouzja, on the other hand, suffers here.

To be champion, as Kasparov once claimed, you have to also get to number one spot.

And Gukesh has still NOT managed this.

When he gets there, he can claim he is best.

Not now.

Chance played huge part in Gukesh's win.

Most of the games were boring.

One of the worst world championships, probably because BOTH are not top.
