should there be gender separation in chess?

Please see this presentation from the 2022 FIDE Exchange Forum, Facts and Myths about Gender in Chess. In short, the performance gap is primarily due to the participation gap. In other words, "we" (the chess community) need to do more to be welcoming and supportive of girls and women in chess. Women's titles and tournaments are one way of accomplishing this. Women can (and do) participate in open tournaments and receive open titles alongside men. I do not believe chess.com has women's only tournaments.
