Should I continue to play, despite knowing that all never be considered good?

I feel like this is a huge waste of time to a degree, because I will never improve, much beyond were I'm at. Should a guy play just, because you enjoy it? I feel like if I can't master it, why bother?

Never do something you won't enjoy if the only way to enjoy it is by reaching done arbitrary level.

I agree, but shouldn't you want to be among the best if its a hobby like this?

I mean chess isn't the same as other stuff. Its a game of logic, and I'm a fool. I get, so angry at myself for poor play..

No. The vast majority of things people are interested in as hobbles are not going to be the things they are best at. The important thing is to enjoy the process or just playing, at least most of the time. Or find something else you enjoy to do instead.

Not sure that's how people work even if your old improvement isn't just "get better " it is a lot more than that but if you don't enjoy it you probably shouldn't do chess as a hobby

Chess is just as much logic as it is illogic you should see my blunders half my games... Alot of people get mad iv actually been getting mad recently so I prob need a break

Like You can make a bad move and have it win quicker then the best move depending on the person your playing

I love the game. I just don't like that I can't improve, despite studying the game.

You have it a bit backwards... yes people who have talent at something tend to have more motivation to continue doing it, but to be good at chess you have to lose thousands and thousands of games, and work really hard to improve ____ and then screw up and lose due to ____ anyway, and so work hard again trying not to do ____. Over and over, year after year... people who improve a lot just enjoy chess. They'd play even if they didn't improve. Improvement is a byproduct of enjoyment, not the other way around.

So like Martin said, find something else you enjoy instead, because if you really enjoy it, then not only will that be fun for you, but it will be something you eventually become really good at (if skill level is important to you).

It's normal to get stuck for a while. That doesn't mean you've stopped improving forever.

You will improve if you put some time and effort in it.
I am close to 1800 rapid, playing chess for a year now and I don't study anything and I know that I still have lot's of room to improve because I blunder all the time, even hang pieces on occasion.
In chess, if you want to improve, it's important to know your blunders, so that you can work on them. If you don't know what the problem is, it's hard to fix it

these two months, I used to won games on time beating but my points are not increasing, is anyone here that can help me to understand this?? thanks.

Some people call analyzing your games and trying to fix your mistakes studying tho it depends on the person

I always thought that this was a form of study. Do you guys memorize opening attacks and theory or just practice through play and review of mistakes?

As someone who is not very good either i feel like if it is something that entertains you and gives you a challenge don't be worried about trying to be the best just play how you play and enjoy the game but if you wish to stop playing chess that is 100% your choice happy.png

Just do the best you can and try to learn stuff without worrying about being #1 though goals can be nice but don't get too aggressive about hiting a goal (you may or may not reach it ) if you fail the first time you can always try again

I do it mostly just to satisfy my curiosity more than anything else. I am definitely not studying the game. I don't spent much time on it either, just quickly go through inaccuracies in openings, blunders, missed tactics, missed wins and that's about it. Half a minute max
