Question about fide K-factor

Lets say that there is a youth player with a K-factor of 40. He has 2200 elo fide and he plays a tournament and wins 200 elo. This means that his live elo is 2400 but before the month ends he plays another tournament. In this tournament will his K-factor still be 40 or will it go down to 10?

The K-factor used in FIDE rating calculations changes based on a player's age and rating. For players under the age of 18, the K-factor is typically 40 until they reach a rating of 2400. After that, the K-factor generally drops to 20. For players aged 18 or older, the K-factor can be 20 if the rating is above 2400.

In your scenario, if the player is under 18 and has a K-factor of 40, then after winning 200 Elo, his live rating becomes 2400. However, for the next tournament, if the player’s rating stays at 2400 or increases above that, his K-factor will drop to 20, as the rating threshold for maintaining the K-factor of 40 is 2400.

To summarize, in the second tournament, if his rating remains at 2400 or higher, his K-factor will change from 40 to 20.
