Trash talk should definitely be allowed. As #5 said, if you’re offended and feel bad about chess trash talk, you really aren’t ready for the real world yet. Trash talk just makes any game better.
You shouldn’t be able to report trash talk if you can just close chat.
If it’s an optional chat then why do you get in trouble for trash talk if the opponent is a wimp they can just close chat

Saying weird inappropriate stuff should be punishable though, and sometimes the you momma jokes go over that line
I think we gotta give "trash talk" a definition before we go about making a verdict. I think depending on who you are certain terms can and can't be used in the "trash talk" spectrum.
if they start trash talking and you dont want to deal with it just stop the chat lol. personally I like roasting them if they try.

also you can report someone for trolling if it gets out of hand.
Within reasonable limits (like yelling slurs at someone would be past those limits) trash talk should be perfectly fine, people can just turn off chat. This is what I don’t understand about the internet, if youre a wimp and being offended, just turn off chat mute them or leave the chat.
Well not that many people are actually cheating of course they’re gonna ignore almost all of them if you’re reporting all day
Maybe it’s worse at higher ratings though
I’d assume so, logically cheaters would get a high rating fast and therefore very rarely or never play lower rated players
