puzzle rush score (5 min) vs OTB rating strength ?

What do you think a person should be able to do in puzzle rush of various ratings?

Thank you.  Your table makes sense.  I am about 1400 - 1600 blitz (USCF and FIDE), and can do 20 - 30 at most. My teacher has done 45 and is about 2800 blitz rating. 

You only have 9 PR attempts.

Although even for people who do it often, it's not a very accurate way to estimate OTB ratings.

It works for me approximatively. I guess you'd need to play at least 30 puzzle rush games to get a good approximation.

I dont think so, for myself. Probably I am weaker in tactics compared with other 2000+ peers. ( If I am actually weaker in tactics, then I might be stronger in other areas in compensation, e.g , strategy, time management, opening preparation etc).

My highest so far is 19, but my blitz rating online is barely over 1000.  I'm around 1500 in daily games and maybe 1300+ OTB in classical...  I'm just not so good at blitz & bullet, so hoping puzzle rush will help... It seems to!

This makes me feel really dumb.

Although, no one is good at chess because they're smart.

If you knew they worked 5 hours a day, for 10 years, just to get a puzzle rush of 40 would you think they were smart? Would you feel stupid? My guess is no.

Why do they need to have the three strikes you are out?

Because chess isn’t a trial and error game.

Don't agree with this. Non-premium members get only one Puzzle Rush per day and this is unfair for comparision. I get pissed that I have to wait for 24 hours to get another shot at Puzzle Rush.

It's a novel method to tempt members to get premium membership.

If solving chess puzzles positively equated to chess playing strength, chess puzzle book writer Bill Harvey would be a strong grandmaster.  For all I know about him he might be a very good tactical player, but not more not less.  

I've gotten 29 a few times but I haven't broken 30 yet. I have a 23+ average though. I tend to go for accuracy rather than speed. I hate getting problems wrong.

I think some people would be interested to know whether their puzzle rush score looks normal in relation to their rating, or they need to practice more. And basically chess.com can easily to help here with one additional feature, I guess. Currently they provide a list of 50 people with highest score. But if it would be possible to customize that, and to provide the list of 50 people whose score lies in some specified range, say between 20 and 25, then someone who scored 20 may take a look at rating of those 50 people to compare his/her rating with them.

my estimate is:

25 - 1800

30 - 2000

35 - 2200

40 - 2400

45 - 2600

Yes, I believe your data are more realistic, but it's pity that statistics cannot be easily obtained now.
