This seems like a no-brainer but Chess.com has one of the worst lags and if you are playing above 40 pings you are effectively losing in bullet games. This is most effective when playing shorter-time controls as the server registers the opponent's move before you see it on the board and your response is also delayed. After all Every competitive first-person shooter compensates for lag but after some tests on Chess.com it seems there is no compensation which is weird considering Chess.com hosts many tournaments. from my experience, if your ping is above 50 you lose 1 sec for every move because of no lag compensation which is one area Lichess is better at. This gave me vibes of elitism as if Chess.com is better than Valve CS2 or VALORANT because as I said first It's such " a no-brainer "

Don't know about that but Spam is a definitely problem they should and can fix.

For an average 1100 player, I would not expect such complaints about a few milliseconds in a game.

For reference, ping is measured in milliseconds and is for the round trip distance. There are 1000 milliseconds in a second.

Therefore a ping of 1000 would mean you lose 1 second every move.

Is lichess coded better? Probably yes. Also they have fewer users so there's less load on their server(s).

I had a weird thing a few days ago where in a Blitz game I was waiting for opponent to make his move or time out at the end, and his timer went to 1, then a move appeared and it said I'd timed out lol. On his screen I think I'd been sat there doing nothing for 20 seconds grin.png
