OP strategy?

Recently, I've been doing something a bit different in my rapid games, which seems to be working really well for some reason. Instead of playing all my moves as soon as I see them and are confident with them (like blitzing out the opening, premoving captures and playing out any easy tactics instantly), I've started playing every single move with 5 seconds. Or at least the ones where I am absolutely certain it is the move:

Of course, with this strat, I will not throw the games as often as I did before because I am holding myself back from playing them instantly, but the main idea revolves around fighting your opp both on the board and psychologically.

I got the idea quite a while ago when some of the opps I reported hadnt actually been banned. And I guess they were doing the exact same thing because none of the moves themselves were suspicious when I played them, it was just the time usage which really put me off during these games. It is probably poor sportsmanship to do this because the strategy relies upon really messing your opp up psychologically, but I never thought that it would actually be working this well!

I wonder how this strat would do in OTB...

I think this would be an okay strategy if you used increment, not in games where you didn't have increment, like these 10+0 games here.

It's a good strategy as well because you aren't speeding, and when you really need to think, you aren't just playing bullet but actually thinking. However, you still need to watch your time usage, especially in non-increment games, as @Drummer_GD_Elijah mentioned. Also to your question in OTB, because the time control is usually huge people usually take time on obvious moves.

Taking an extra 5 seconds per move, even on obvious ones, helps prevent the "auto-pilot" syndrome that often leads to missed tactics or blunders.
