A guy decided to troll with a single day throwaway account. Let's just let this nonsense sink peacefully into oblivion.

why is everybody that you disagree with a troll?

it should be disturbing to you that a new player quitted this site within a day from a bad experience if anything.

Truth will be revealed to the believers. Our Messiah will return.

All these just created accounts is crazy

AREuGAMBITscaredyCAT

Oh, and if you are a believer without a Messiah, you can be ours. Apply within.

vamsim7

What are you talking about

AREuGAMBITscaredyCAT

You can fill out an application and come to a job fair near you. Please read the terms and conditions.

1. Are you willing to leave and then return?

If the answer to any these questions is "yes", you might have what it takes to become our next Messiah. See you at our next job fair. Make sure to come with a beard and signed application.

How can you beat a player with a 2 year old account getting to 1300+, 1181 games, but then lose to 800s? The pairing system on this site is completely faulty and fallacious.

maybe he just played a trashy opening lol... f4 on the fourth move??? hmmm...

That doesn't explain losing to 800s though. This site hopes people will do what you do, just ignore other variables while looking at one plausible "outlier".

IIRC 800 is "beginner" which you select when you register. Usually "beginners" will select this and find out they're much higher or lower rated

Anyone can lose to a lower rated player, especially if they overestimate their own skill and underestimate that of their opponent.

Did you not read the previous reply? You are making a one off excuse for something that is not one off.

I lost to a 549 rated player (USCF) that was 450 points below my rating. I played a pretty trappy opening instead of a solid one, underestimating his strength, and I got destroyed. So that's true

One singular event doesn't prove or disprove a pattern.

The Perception of Manipulation in Chess.com

Players suspect Chess.com manipulates ratings due to patterns like losing streaks near rating milestones (e.g., 1200 or 2000), despite better performance on other platforms. Chess.com denies this, but the lack of transparency and forum censorship fuel mistrust.

Why Players Distrust Platforms

Cases like Twitter before X and Facebook showed platforms often deny questionable practices, only to be exposed later. This history makes users skeptical of Chess.com’s assurances.

What’s Needed to Restore Trust

1. Transparency: Explain rating algorithms and matchmaking.

2. Open Dialogue: Allow moderated discussions on sensitive topics.

3. Clear Policies: Show evidence of actions against unfair play.

Chess.com’s credibility depends on clear communication and addressing user concerns directly.

AREuGAMBITscaredyCAT

I am not claiming manipulation, the pairings are too random. This creates an overlap.
