Batman, I assume you're a 1.e4 player (since you like gambits), I have noticed (by a database), that if someone plays the "Scandinavian" against you, you may as well force a "Blackmar Gambit" on him...

2. d4

oh wow thanks! I always struggle against the scandi! should I put you on my profile for inventing the batmobile and helping me play against scandi? that seems like a good way I can say thank you if u want

Thank you, noble man, but no need.

You should try "The Toilet Gambit"

The variation against the Sicilian? (e4 c5 f4 d5 *Nc3*)

I strongly believe that against the Sicilian, one should play the Grand Prix. The Toilet is inferior to the Grand Prix.

Is the Halloween sound?

no

though apparently the computer gives this as only -1.5 for black, so it's not as bad as some of the other "trick" openings

It works best when black does this:

Once thought of this Variation of the KG:

Refutation to a gambit

I'm not much into gambits, but I've seen a lot of videos about openings, so I want to suggest to you one thing against every opening. Now I know you're a 1.e4 player, so...

1...c5 - Grand Prix. (I think the best your opponent can do, is to defend successfully).

---

1...e5 - Any gambit you wish.

---

1...d6 (Pirc) - The 150 Attack (which is really, the Yugoslav Attack)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHOZ65s-IlY

* Was played by Judith Polgar.

---

1...e6 (French):

Reti Gambit?

Schrantz's traps?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUWQABiygVM

---

1...c6 (Caro Kann), here Mr. Tomic ("Hanging Pawns"), who actually plays it as Black, tells you, that you can get the dark-sqr bishop of Black, stuck...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9uHKJ1WgbM

Minute 17:35 and forward...

1.d4 Nf6 2.g4 trust me it is one of the most fun gambits out there

Now you as Black, my suggestions (I'm 38 years old, have 10 years experience, IQ - 133, take it or leave it):

Against 1.e4

Philidor - Hanham var. trying to reach the "Black Lion" (Risky version, of course):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmtRCzAxZpQ

GingerGM explains the attacking prospects, minute 3:50 forwards.

---

This is the latest, and probably best, video on it:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nZuMpqLIoU

But he doesn't start with the Philidor Hanham, which may cause problems... I suggest you will.

I don't know how to attack much with it, but it's a perfect defense, from experience - his pieces are dolls - your king on e1 and f1, is totally safe.

---

Against 1.d4 - Benko Gambit.

Against 1.c4. If he fianchetto the bishop and 0-0, I like the "Sokolov Way":

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yctXiDFjNPo&t=593s

Also, Grand Prix?

Against 1.Nf3. Well... hard to tell, but he will play a setup, you can play the Dutch directly - with no problems (Hopton Attack, Raphael var.) - 1...f5. The engine like to grab space - d4 d5. Karpov's move is Nf6... you wait. Once someone tried the KID, I played the Samisch, and failed. well...

Against g6 b6 - grabbing space and having an easier game. (yes, my Batmobile isn't so good, for that same reason, but, I tried..).

---

Good luck, good man, hope this helps.

I actually play 1.c5 against e4

I have seen those courses on chessable actually.

Thanks for your help, benko is fun to play grin.png

Solmyr1234

If you play 1...c5, I have something against the Alapin - e4, c5, c3, *e5* - not common, you just depress his will to play d4... I only tried it one time and it worked.

Sharp2Axe
Play my french gambit e4 e6 d4 d5. c4! dxe4. f3
MyNameIsNotBuddy

Thank you, that's the best advice ever! I now study a free course from Kramnik on chessable.com! This website is great!
