Is using notes cheating on chess.com

Look at my rating, I'm not the best player :p
Still learning the basic concepts of planning, opening and tactics.

Would it be concidering cheating if I use some notes? For example I watched some videos from GM Varuzhan Akobian which are really great.

I notice that during games, I am messing up the position from the opening so if I use these notes it will be a little more easier and after time I won't need those notes anymore.

I want to play as honest as possible so if it's concidered cheating I will just have to keep analysing and play much more games but I feel I will remember the positions in a faster way if I can use a "cheat sheet" to look at once in a while :)

Can't use note or by any other mean for live chess but for C.C. yes is ok.

ok, thanks. I'll stick with mental notes :) and analyse games.

Why is this different in live and CC?

In live chess is to be close as possible to otb game.

To elaborate: live chess, and over-the-board chess, are dedicated exercises: the players should be spending all their time playing the game with the knowledge which they had before the game started, not reading up more knowledge on the basis of the position which they have reached.

But in correspondence chess this ideal is not realistic. The play is not dedicated, and the players are leading their normal lives between moves. You cannot stop players learning more about the game (from notes or other sources) while a game taking months is in progress, nor would that be desirable.

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense.
I'll treat live chess as OTB and stick with my notes for the analyses afterwards.
