Is it me or people only give you a rematch when they think they can defeat you again?

I am extremely surprised by the fact that the consensus here seemed to be "no, its just you" as well.
Truly, it seems that 2017 was a different time... And these accounts... Left with it...

If I win as White and my opponent asks for a rematch I almost always grant the request.

It is indeed obvious, but this way of thinking is unsportsmanlike, while it is "supposed" to be such.

Same people who repeatedly press a rematch button when they won would most likely not accept a rematch if they lost, which is "considered" inequitable. Because all such people seem to care about is win, not taking into account "chess ethics", that this website tries to promote as well (like, you can report stalling/abandoning games, as it is an offense under Fair Play).

While asking for a rematch after you lost is commendable, as it is "considered" to indicate the desire to learn, demanding a rematch after winning is just "considered" rude.

Hence, this topic. It is born out of reflection on this whole situation.

You might consider this a very long-winded salty post about people who spam rematch button after winning, and an attempt to dunk on them, at least on the forum, if not in game; depending how much you adhere to Machiavellianism (aka "its all about self-superiority, bruh!").

When I beat someone I always wait to see if they offer rematch cause I hate when people refuse a rematch with me after they beat me. If I keep winning I'll rematch someone as many times as they want or if I win the first one, rematch and then lose the second I usually challenge them to rematch cause I don't want to lose the series or I'll see if they challenge me again cause they want to win the series I won't just stop playing them cause I lose, at least not if the score is 1-1 sometimes after the third or 4th game I can't keep my mental focus up and since I know my level will drop I will stop playing in general but I'm with you I can't stand when people decline rematches anytime in the first 3 games of a series between us I think it's lame and cowardly.
