Yes true
I was often told that It takes years to go from 1000-1500. And I think it is absolutely not true.
My goal for now is maybe 1500 someday. Been stuck between 1100 and 1300. Seems to me this is the same level player.
Good news for me is I’m currently 1330 and beating some 1400 people so I am improving slowly. This has taken me years as I am older.
1300’s has me being about 93% compared to all accounts. So there are a lot of 1000 or lower players out there. You get north of 1100 and the numbers start to drop quick. I am ranked right about 1000000 now. Knowing that represents only 7 percent of the accounts out there tells you, if you’re flying through the elo you have a lot of natural talent.
@jollyrancher-rev idk bro I am on a new account after having closed my previous one due to exams. I peaked on my older one at 1200 and before closing it i was 1100.
I started this new account and here I am at 1600. I have no issues playing against 1700. My rating seems to have almost stabilized and will soon I assume stabilize around mid 1600s.
I havent really found any difference in play between when i was 1200 and now at 1600s it is weird.
The only thing I have changed is that I ask myself what good moves my opponent can do and how do i prevent it which believe it or not I wasnt doing it up until now
awwwww mr chomper is here. I am curious bro how long have u been playing chess?
(notice how I didnt ask you how did u improve so that u dont answer with I just chomp on hanging pawns or something concussion inducing
First, your losing games more than you win. Second, it's always easy to get high on a new account. I wanted to test this, so I made a new account aan got to 2000 in a day
@blackpanther11121 many of the games that I lost were played early in the morning after studying all night so i was fried and many of them I was under time pressure while in completely winning positions. I wouldnt cheat myself trust me bro I know how I am playing.
That is the conclusion I reached and I am sure I will climb back to 1700 in less than a month.
yea true of course but that i guess can be solved by playing longer time controls. Also i havent played many games on this account so we are still to see if i am right wrong. Maybe I am wrong and the more I play eventually i will plummet back to 1200
i'm a complete retard at this game. i can't see anything. i blunder off pieces left and right because i dont see what's staring me in the face. i can't calculate ahead because my brain can't see it more than 2 moves before i get lost. this game is all pattern recognition and visualization.
if you can do that you've got it made.
Different for everyone, no such thing as saying it takes this long or that long, many players easily reach a level that other people never reach even after years of toil and sweat. But those same people who seemingly can’t reach 1500 (or whenever eating) may be brilliant at something else outside of chess.

we all blunder my g. The only solution to not blundering is taking ur time before u make a move. Play longer time controls. As for calculating -> we arent gukesh or magnus brother, calculation simply needs practice
Actually longer time controls helps me. I’m 53 and can think deeply but not quickly. I’m 1300 now at rapid. If I play 10 mins I drop. If I play 30 I climb.
When reviewing my games, I almost always have an advantage after the opening. The middle is a mixed bag of nuts with great and even brilliant moves to gain a 4 or even 5 point advantage…only to blunder the game away.
If I’m even in the end game I’m going to lose…I have to get there with at least a 2 pawn advantage…or I lose it seems.
As a result I have learned to try to win in the middle game and skip the end game so a lot of sacs that look to give me a mate chance…but it’s hope chess only to find out I’m a pawn short or a tempo too slow and lose it.
I feel that there is no difference btween 1200-1700 it is the same level of play. I feel the difference is in the 1800+ You can easily reach 1500 without studying the game
