Raspberry_Yoghurt

No it said "won by resignation" I ve no doubt about it

Knightly_News

If it occured, just resign yourself to it.

I had that happen yesterday twice. One game right after my opponent moved the game ended, said I abandoned lost 7 points. Same thing second game except it happened after I moved, it said I abandoned and I'm like no I just f###ing moved lol. Probably a glitch.

I have been having serious problems with the Chess.com APP on my Apple Ipad Air2.  When I try to make the very first move, the app crashes, and when I boot up again it says I lost the game by 'resignation'.

This has happened several times in the last few days and is causing me to lose some serious points on my rating.

It makes me feel like maybe chosing some other app from the other site, because it is very frustrating, and I was starting to enjoy Chess.com.

Crashing had been common before.  The problem is crashing and getting an undeserved loss!

How can I complain about it?

Chess.com should fix this bug immediately and give me back my hard earned rating points!!

Thanks!

Go in unanswered posts, there's one that tells you how to send a support ticket. You won't get points back.

Thank you, ewq85!  I followed your tip and sent the technical message.

It is EXTREMELY frustating to lose games like that and also lose the rating points.

Let's see what they do about it.

Best wishes!

Again on the topic of crash untrue 'resignations', all one has to do it to look at my game archive to find several games I 'lost' by 'resignation' without making a single move (that is, zero moves).

Since it is a crash, it could be counted as 'game aborted', but never as a game 'resignation'.

That is an immense flaw of Chess.com app for Apple iPad!

It may be a glitch...

Prashantraorkela

this happened with me too... I lost a game while I was in a winning position. I lost interest in online chess after that.

Only for one game??? Strange. Very strange @Prashantraokela!

it's probably a connection issue.  I've lost games occasionally, in the past, due to my poor connection timing out but I don't recall if there was any message about resignation.  I only use PC so if this is specifically and APP problem I would not be surprised.  I recommend that anyone having this problem complain as the staff will deal with it if they see lots of people having issues.  I can't see you getting your rating points back but they are fairly worthless so don't get too bent over it.  In the meantime maybe... only play live chess on a PC or at the very least a stable connection.

Prashantraorkela

This had happened with me while I was playing in my PC. It displayed "White won by resignation," I clearly remember I was not even close to the 'resign' button. So there was no chance I would have unknowingly pressed the resign button.

I started having problems with chess.com app on my iphone today. I keep getting a message that I lost by resignation when I didn't resign. This has never happened to me before, but happened about 6x today. What gives ? In most of these games I was in a winning position at the time, but in 1 or 2 I was not. Any thoughts out there ?

Happened to me too. Was playing a 10 min. game Nov 10, 2022. One minute in my computer locked up when it was my turn and I had to reboot. Rarely happens but it did that day. When I logged back on 3 min. later after reboot to finish the game, it said I had.....RESIGNED!! Wow....I certainly did NOT resign,. I couldn't with a locked up computer in any event. Is it possible my opponent somehow managed to "resign" FOR me?? Because that definitely appears to be exactly what happened. Really, really super, super. super curious to know precisely how he did this, because it would be a wonderfully neat trick to have up my own sleeve. Please enlighten me. If you can..... happy.png Many thanks.

I was two moves away from checkmate. My opponent was about to auto-resign, pretty sure they were rage quitting, and then when they reconnected it said I resigned and lost. One of the best games I've played. The evaluation said 3 mistakes 1 blunder and 4 great moves, and then I somehow lost. Is there someone I can contact about this? I don't know if it was hacked or if it was a game issue, but I lost 9 elo when I should be up 7 placing, me at over 350.

Today, there was a glitch for me as well as my friend.

masonGBCeltics

Probably just a glitch with chess.com

Not specifically having this resignation window, but my pairing system broke...I was a little over 1200 rated player, but it kept pairing me with 1350+ players, causing me to go on a 100 point tilt.
