Help me! He won't resign

To everyone,

If you will please look at my game, apb2120 vs westre. I am winning, have the most pieces, the most points, and yet this individual will not resign. He has said he will either have me chase him or give me a draw. I am frustrated. This was at first a very good game. Well played until the very end. Now he simply moves his king and bishop around. In understand it is my responsibility to finish the end game. But normally in a situation like this the propper thing to do would be for the guy to be a gentleman and resign. Am in in the wrong. Help. To all, thanks.

You can't doing this.He can play how long he wants(before he got checkmate or lost on time). He is a bad loser.Ignore him and it's all what you can do.Don't be frustrated soon he will get checkmate.Good luck.
Lousy

its a matter of technique. I can remember once duirng a junior game, one kid has a rook and a queen against a lone king. But he doesn't know how to checkmate his opponent!

 Nobody taught him that!

So your opponent is testing your techniques. He really doesn't know whether you can checkmate him or not.

So I support him.......I too do not know. However, if you win and then the next time you have a queen against him then it would be polite to resign in this position.

just beat him and stop complaining then dont play him again its that simple he has every right to play on even if your winning u still have to earn it so dont get all worked up about it its still just a game mate ......Cool

I can agree that sometimes it is infuriating to have something not resign when you have an obvious advantage, but it is your responsability to continue playing and prove that you are able to mate him. It shouldn't be hard, King Queen and bishop against king and bishop is an easy win, and if you hadn't moved your king there but one case lower on d4 you would have a mate in 6 or less.

I have 3 games like that. There is no law that says that you have to resign

catcatthecat

what are u complaining of??? be a gentleman and resign??????? what?????? how dose gentleman have to do with chess? if u cant win the game u dident win the game. at the moment all u have is a matirial advantege. u want your appounnt to win the game fpr u?

i think that when someone plays to the end, even when  "loosing" he/she rispects u the most.

Synsillusarian
well on your condition, u still can checkmate him, u have queen and king, thats enough to checkmate, the matter is u need to know how to checkmate with queen and king :)

Playing at your level, I support playing every game until the bitter end.  Many beginning players blunder these endgames.

First Gentleman s rule...don t suggest resignation to your opponent. And doing this posts to try to turn users opinion against that guy is mentally very poor from you.if i was him, and i noticed u may not have the skills to end that game i would do the same.

Stick at it it!  You have a massive advantage and its all down to technique as was said earlier.  After you have finished go over the moves and see where you went wrong then get a book on endgame techniques and practice them then you won't be frustrated by such positions again.
Chessstudent

the guy your complaining about is the guy you want in the foxhole right next to you!!

..furthermore, when you get to 100 moves sell.

Players should learn to resign, and do so!.....you can just resign the game and forget about the player! ...keep playing and get the mate! ....or just play around in this game for a hundred moves or so??.....come on folks you know you should resign when the game is lost!!.....anyone heard of fair play.

u have won but you have to proove it and it isn't over till u have mated him or he resigns. those are the rules of chess. he obviously  thinks u dont have the skills to finish him off and u have to prove him wrong ! sorry Aarron

Good players know when they should resign and they do. Weak players do not.

It is forbiden to give aid in ongoing games, so I will just state the principle that a queen can easily mate a lone king.

Oh, and be careful about the 50 move rule!
