FIDE World Chess Championship Singapore 2024: Official Discussion Thread
Congrats to Gukesh. I was slightly for Ding, but I expected Gukesh to beat him worse than he did, so it was a good match. Will Arjun Erigaisi be his challenger? That would be something.
Congrats to Vishy, too. His influence is immense.
Congratulations Gukesh!!!
You barely managed to beat a person in place 22 in FIDE rating, who is additionally suffering from health issues.
pathetic
Come on man, Gukesh played well. Ding might’ve not been in his best form but Gukesh still played well.
Gukesh won!!!!!!!!

A very strange match by Ding. He was psychologically unprepared for the WC. We got a glimpse of his abilities in game 12, but during the rest of the match he tried to avoid complications, even when they might have favoured him, just to lose an endgame any master should draw even at blitz time controls. As for Gukesh, he did not impress me. A top GM, he surely is, but not an imposing champion. He is still far from Caruana, Nakamura or Erigaisi in the lists and did not give a particularly strong performance. We will see, he is only 18.
In the end, today's blunder, along with that of game 11, decided the title. Not a match to remember, unless you are Indian.
Yeah. Maybe Ding would come back later. Also Congratulations that GUKESH becomes the YOUNGEST WORLD CHESS CHAMPION!
Congratulations to Gukesh! Youngest champ ever
Yeah that's why I was cheering for him...and because he's wanted for so long to be the youngest world champ and now he's earned it! Very happy for him...
