Doesn't mean I'm wrong. Think about it:
- lot of cheaters here, easy to cheat, impossible to prevent cheating
- no punishment for cheaters ("second chance" is not a punishment, no), but there is a punishment for those who speak about cheating (chess.com locks topics about cheating and might ban you)
- inconsistent play: opponents that are apparently too strong or too weak for their rating maybe due to lack of concentration or cheating or deliberate sandbagging or other factors (rating system inaccuracy)
- bad sportsmanship (stalling, abandoning, verbal abuse in chat)
- blitz/rapid are too fast for learning, but investing more time against random opponents with such inconsistent play is risky
- worries about rating causes tilting and distracting thoughts
So what value do you see in all this?
The best solution is to play against bots. Bot can play like humans now. With bots you can play slowly, think deeply. You learn the game better, you can do takebacks, you can use hints when needed, this is the best way to learn openings by the way.
P.S. Why desktop apps/games: because on chess.com bots run locally anyway using resources of YOUR devices but chess.com doesn't give you enough settings to configure bots and you're limited to just one engine here and people reported that on slow devices bots play weaker, that could mean there's time limit on thinking (can be disabled in desktop apps/games).

Agreed, it ain't much better on here. I have lost 10 games on the trott on lichess, that has never happened on lichess before and against much, much lower players. I am thinking about just giving the game up and finding something better to do.
No need to give up, chess is a great game. Just don't play online pvp. Play against bots and OTB.
