I had a friend who tried to learn chess, because he thought it was kind of cool the way abstract logical thought could be applied in a game and you and another person could create this interesting interaction...
After two or three years, he came to the conclusion: "Chess is not a fun game. You sit in a chair and torture yourself for hours over the fate of some dumb pawn."
