who said gukesh was better at chess? Have you seen dings records in the past few years, sure hes been losing alot due to mental issues but, before that he was ABSOLUTELY crushing! He was an amazing player, being among the greatest chess players like magnus for a while.

6, currently, I would say gukesh is better. All time? No ding fs. But like you said the past year has been poor for him

yes, but he has mentally recovered now! (his depression kinda started when his girlfriend broke up with him mid tournament and a bunch of other stuff but hes mentally and emotionally recovered.) He is doing very well in a tournament where most thought Gukesh would have a landslide of a victory. Remember that in the months he was absent from chess he was actively preparing for the world championship match. Something tells me that ding is back and hes a beast!

We've seen him strike back at losses (11-12 rounds) and play beautiful chess especially in this tournament. He's on edge and he's playing better than ever in this WC, I would not doubt his chess capabilities at all, but also it would be really nice to see the youngest WC in the history of Chess.
