Daily Puzzle Comments

The race to be on the front page on the Daily Puzzle has overtaken helpful discussion of the puzzle itself.

Even someone who can not play chess at all can claim the dubious distinction of first comment or front page, complete with details of their atomic clock, or how many times they have succeeded before.

Then we have the comments that epitomize the word "trite":

"Nice puzzle" "Easy" etc

On the other hand, spoilers have appeared high on the front page.

This all gives to first-time visitors to this site, the impression that its community is a bunch of silly children. One suggestion is that the comments be displayed most-recent-first, though I realise there will always be children clogging up the works of open social media.

Could it be a requirement of commenting here that at least one correct move has been made?

Well done. You have solved the connundrum of the internet.

The majority of the people on this planet are stupid. They will will feel right at home.

SInce the mojority of the people on this planet are at home, particularly while online, it is not surprising they would feel at home.

"Stupid" is a relative judgement. There are probaly lots of people who actually know what a conundrum is and how to spell it. it might turn out that there are thousands of planets populated by beings compared to whom all earthlings are stupid.

The Dunning Kruger Effect warns us against assessing our own intelligence.

There is a free-iqtest dot net where you might get some idea of what percentage of people are smarter than yourself.

My I.Q. today 157

"majority" not "mojority"

Websites are virtual spaces. Feeling at home "here" means feeling "at home" engaging with this site.

It is not possible, to calculate only from your I.Q. ,  what percentage of people are smarter than you. More people have an I.Q. of 100 than the number who have any other I.Q. - that's how it works. It is not necessarily the case that 50% are above 100 and 50% below.

People with very low I.Q. can not play chess, but can still be first to "comment".

My point was not to show that people are stupid, but to suggest how the page meant for comments on the puzzle, could actually reflect that useful purpose.
