A game is savored by those who understand it, regardless of how fast or slow it is played.   I do think people should be allowed enough time to give fair consideration of their moves, but a game that takes 30 days or more to complete is just as much a pain as a 30 sec. game.

It's a matter of taste really. Since slow chess and speed chess are entirely different animals I'd say that grouping them together is a mistake. True, you must have the basics of chess down to play either, but beyond that, one comes down to quick thinking and cheap traps while the other requires long thought out strategies and long term considerations. Remember, not every Grandmaster was good at speed chess but many less speed chess players are Grandmasters.
