Computer Engine to Determine Elo from Games

Sort:
olansorea

I wonder if there is some computer engine that can analyze games and determine an estimate of the players' strength in Elo rating. I noticed in my e-mail after the first online chess game that chess.com sent out my approximate elo rating. [WhiteElo "1348"] I would like to analyze my other games and see what the engine tells me. Thanks.

Please let me know if something like this exists, and apologies if there is some topic like this already.

No, ELO isn't an objective measure of ability, it's a measure of performance against a pool of players.

Therefore, you can't deduct ELO from moves, but measure it based on results against rated players.

They have tried to do something similar though I think, if you search for chessmetrics.
