If you can get to the level of 2000 ELO then I suppose some teaching would reasonably be in the cards. Otherwise, you'd need to be much stronger to have a chance to earn a living otb.
Chess just isn't very lucrative except for the very few (and strong).
It's tempting to try to live off what you love (chess), to be a chess professional, and the financial part may be more of a challenge than the chess part.
