Chess.com has a Serious Problem

Sort:
Prince_Skywalker

Every Titled Tuesday, the worst offenders of Chess.com rules of fair play come online into Live Chess & Chess.com doesn't catch or detect most of the bad activity

Take a look at how many of them are in Live Chess on Titled Tuesdays

llama_l

Your silly premise is that a few 100 players overload chess.com's ability to monitor foul play, and when the TT players take up those fair play resources other cheaters go unnoticed.

This fails to consider that there are 50 to 100 thousand people playing at any time, and a rough estimate is that chess.com checks around 50% of all games played... therefore your premise is incorrect.

Chess.com Live Chess is flawed

When individuals choose to break the rules, they can "BLOCK" you which will prevent you from Reporting their rule breaking activity.

It is a deeply flawed system being used in Live Chess

You cannot Report cheating or rule breaking activity on Chess.com when the Cheater Offender blocks you. Take a look for yourselves

They'll probably fix this eventually... it was a dumb mistake.

inexcusable

Prince_Skywalker

this is not a one off mistake by chess.com

chess.com allows for these cheaters to plague the site continuously then when we complain about them they punish us for it

rather than addressing the problem they pretend that nothing is happening

Prince_Skywalker

Cheaters are exploiting the flaws of chess.com because it doesnt seem like enough resources are being devoted to stopping them

and the systems in place dont catch cheaters and you cant report them when they block you

its such a flawed system

Yeah, I don't know why they make the mistakes they do. Some of them seem pretty simple.

Prince_Skywalker

meanwhile those of us who abide by the rules and play fairly get punished by being suspended or closed for speaking out and speaking the truth

thats the opposite of what is supposed to happen

cheating is so bad online that everyone knows it is destroying chess

Prince_Skywalker

chess.com also doesn't allow you to prevent individuals from following your activity

shouldn't you be asked if someone can track when you log on to chess.com or when you are playing? what's so hard about allowing players to decide whether they are followed or not and to see who is following them online

so many flawed systems on chess.com and it just isn't working anymore

Checking 100% of games would be really costly... I mean, they bought the Play Magnus group for 80 million so can they afford to do better? I don't know exactly...

From what I remember they check about 50% of all games though (whether you report someone or not). So that's decent. If games are chosen randomly, then it'd be hard for a cheater to cheat (for example) 10 times without at least one of those games being checked.

In some sense, checking 100% of games is a waste of resources.

Titled Tuesdays attract many titled players but it also brings the worst highest cheating of the week.

[citation needed]

Prince_Skywalker

chess.com also doesn't allow you to cancel games against accounts that you KNOW ARE CHEATING

in fact you get punished for aborting such matches. they put you in a bin where you have a difficult time finding matches against opponents and have to wait sometimes 15 minutes to play just for avoiding CHEATERS

ITS TERRIBLE

Prince_Skywalker

cheaters are attracted to Titled Tuesdays because they think they can have their bots play against titled players

titled players know this and complain all the time

this is a problem that chess players know about but chess.com wants to pretend it isn't happening and to avoid the issue entirely. so it punishes us for saying it

you are punishing the real players and rewarding the cheaters

Chess.com has no way of knowing why a person aborted a match, so this is untrue.

You can't play in TT unless you're titled, so what you said doesn't make sense.

Oh yeah

go ask Chess.com if it is punishing players for aborting matches

When you click on the bio of an opponent and that opponent has won 20 games straight against 2200 level competition then that's a damn good sign of a cheater

so you avoid playing that opponent. do that a couple of times after getting paired with the same opponent and you suddenly get ostracized by the Live Chess matching program

YOU ARE PUNISHED FOR ABORTING MATCHES OR AVOIDING PLAYING KNOWN CHEATERS

Duh.

But these cheaters are not playing in titled tuesdays, they are in Live Chess to get matched against titled players who stick around after they get eliminated from titled tuesdays

this whole system sucks because its so obvious but no one at chess.com does anything to stop these cheaters

instead the focus is on censorship and preventing real players from voicing their concerns about the site. it's backwards

Prince_Skywalker

Everyone on Chess.com is so afraid to discuss the reality of what is happening

no one wants to speak the truth because chess.com bans and suspends accounts just for voicing your concerns about the rampant online cheating occurring

Heck, chess.com won't even allow us to avoid playing newly created cheaters who created their accounts within the last week or month. we know a majority of new accounts are fake cheaters but they pretend that there are thousands of 99% rated players joining the site daily and jumping above 2200 in days time

logic and reason are out the window here
