Anybody Studying and getting worse?

My playing has gotten dramatically worse since I decided to read books and watch instructional videos more seriously, Puzzles, lessons, whatever. Is everyone suddenly so much better at lower levels. I feel like every time I try to follow a lesson, my opponent does something entirely different than what is expected.
Anyone else have similar experience?

I would say below 1500 books aren’t useful. 1500s make blunders a lot so they won’t really follow the theory

Lessons are like free Chessable courses. They’re also good
