I gain around 5 elo every time i win a game and 0 for draw and -8 for loss. I'm a struggling 600-700 rated player, and it's almost impossible to gain any elo. Is this normal?
If you have played a number of games and are playing members of similar rating then that's pretty accurate.

What is the easiest way to increase the rating you gain for each game
The Elo you gain depends on the Elo of your opponent. Say you win, the higher their Elo, the more points you get. Equally when you lose to lower rated players you lose more points
You can control the rating range of your opponents in the settings under the 'Play' button
