A big difference between my rapid and blitz Elo

I want to understand why there’s such a big difference between my rapid and blitz Elo ratings. My rapid rating is high enough to beat players rated 800, but in blitz, I struggle to beat even 300. Is it because the skill levels of the player pools in each mode differ that much, or is there something I’m missing in blitz that’s preventing me from reaching the same level as in rapid?

I have the same sort of disparity between my rapid rating (1630) and my blitz rating (1111).

I think it's because I grew up playing slower over the board chess and I have a hard time playing 5 minute and shorter blitz.

I play 10 minute games, which used to be classified as blitz here on Chess.com.

Blitz is all about playing fast... If you're not used to it you won't perform as well... But I wouldn't worry about it because speed chess is not that beneficial anyway
