Carlsen is playing in the blitz tomorrow. They caved on the no jeans rule.

It's Carlsen who caved in . His dad has told him to play! But Magnus is trying to stitch up the arbiter who was only doing his job.

If true, I'm glad Magnus is playing in the blitz event. I heard a hint of that yesterday when Fiona & Hammer were commenting. I can't remember who said something about Magnus might play but it was the only thing I heard about it. I looked online for confirmation but didn't find anything about that.

Magnus was interviewed by Levy Rozman about it a couple of hours ago. I'm glad he's playing for sure. I doubt he'll be wearing jeans - at least not on the first day.

I'm guessing he won't be in jeans though. I'm sure the director was like "come on Magnus, we really want to get along, will u please play?" And Magnus was like "well y'all were pretty annoying over that stupid jeans thing u know" and they were like "but we had to show we were trying to treat everyone the same" And Magnus was like "but u do know I'm not the same as everybody, right? I'm Magnus The Great. Now kiss the ring" And the director was like "ok, but just this one time if u don't wear jeans. Ur messing up the whole event by not playing so I'll do it for the good of the whole event" And Magnus went "that's some pretty good groveling. Mmmkay, I'll play".

And that was probably how it went.

Oh that's great, Magnus WILL be wearing jeans as I saw from that link. He should wear a jean jacket with it too, that'd be hilarious. The whole world would be laughing over it.

FIDE President Dvorkovich stated he approved a trial of a more flexible approach to attire during the World Blitz Championships that would allow minor deviations from the official dress code.

Does this mean that FIDE regards blitz beeing a lesser form of chess than rapid?
