Why is this the best move according to the engine?

When analysing this game, the engine suggests 7...Rc8 as the best move for black. I just dont understand, i moved 7...e5 during the game and i was 100% percent that this is by far the best move, because it opens line for the queen, prevents 8.Bc7 and also advance to the center and protect d4, while 7...Rc8 also prevents castling queen side. Can anyone explain for me why the engine is suggesting 7...Rc8. Im sorry for my english and my chess knowledge. Thank you very much.

Because e5 loses tactically. e5 Bxc6 Bxc6 Qh5 Kd7 Qf5+ Ke8 Qxe5 Kf7 Nxc7. It's a moderately long, but forcing, line. Other than that, your logic is sound.

Rc8 is the only move that prevents capture of the c7 pawn with check, winning the rook on a8. As has been discussed in #2, e5 is a losing move. Deal with the immediate threat first (Nc7+) by moving your rook to C8 and then threaten to win the d5 knight with e6.
