My first loss at Chess.com
I feel like the Queen side attack should have been conducted with Rooks instead of Knights... so, instead of the "Knight tour" as you describe it, may be leave the Knight on the King side to defend, and then play moves like, b3, Na4, Rc2, Rfc1 and see how Black reacts. If he defends with Bd8, may be the tour can begin. [I am not sure if you would have the time ;-)]
I wanted to ask why you "gave up" on doing a Kingside attack yourself with f4 around move 14., but then we would not have had such an interesting game!
I enjoyed the game; thanks for sharing!
Hi Chessiq,
I wouldn't say that I gave up on a kingside attack at move 14 because I never had one planned! But f4 is certainly possible there and I'll look at the move to see if it had merit. I try to make my moves based on what the position dictates, and here it just seems that all of the factors point queenside.
Your first comment is right on. I should have kept the file open, not occupied it. That c7 pawn barely felt danger the entire game.
P.S. reviewing the game with a chess engine, it looks like Black could have ripped open my kingside even sooner. White has a significant edge until 25. Rb4?? which blows everything.
Hi Anaxagoras,
What does the chess engine suggest - as to how to rip open your position. Just curious.
Thank you jaylord for some chess edification....
