If you find mate in 1, you’re a genius 🧠
Actually, as I look at it again, I was wrong.....Rxg8 should be mate. I did not notice that the Q was pinned by the rook.
You can move bishop to h2, queen block, take queen at d6 and checkmate, or use rook and move to g8, queen blocks, take queen at d8 and Checkmate. I am too lazy to understand how to write checks and checkmate in algebraic notations.
There is actually many ways you can checkmate black right now, using knight, bishops, queen, or rook
Qb7# or Qc7#
or Qb3#
I am now going to edit this comment 5 months later to say that THE QUEEN IS
5 more months later I edit again
The queen is pinned but can still move along the g8 to b3 diagonal, due to moving to those squares not allowing the black bishop to check
Rxg8+ can be blocked by the black queen, so can Bh2+ and Qxg8+
The only other way to check without the black queen blocking is Qb3#. The black bishop cannot capture the queen because it's being pinned by the rook.
If the black bishop captures it, the rook will take the black king BEFORE the white king is captured, because the winner is whoever checkmates or captures the opponent's king FIRST
White text version
Qb3# Black can not take the Queen with that bishop as it would expose the King to check along the first rank.
Qb3# Black can not take the Queen with that bishop as it would expose the King to check along the first rank.
Yeah it's Qb3#
Ha....this is funny. I've made two wrong conclusions. First time, I missed seeing that the Q was pinned by the Bishop. The second time, I just did not notice that the Black Queen could block the Rook's check by moving to D8. Everyone is talking about QB3, but they ignore the fact that Black would just kill the Queen with the Black Bishop.
NC6 looks good for a M1....but, I've gotten it wrong twice.
