hmmmmm

if you have a castle and a king versus king or castle and castle and king vs king

The best way to checkmate via castling is to get the king locked in on either an open d or f file, whether you're castling queenside or kingside. The only reason I've ever done it was b/c it was an achievement in Play Magnus haha.

still checkmate by castle is unllikely and shows your opponent is dumb

I've actually done this once. I did not plan it though. I just said 'Hey I'll castle now to be safe' and the game ended by checkmate. My Queen was out and my opponent's King was badly exposed and it worked. I was surprised more than anyone. Wish I still had the list of moves to post.

It's possible but I have never done this before. Still, I have seen tactics about this.

There's a game where Morphy did it:

In this game, White *could have* castled queenside to mate!
