Why playing a lot of blitz or rapid won't help you reach your rating goal.

While walking to buy vegetables, I had a thought about a common misconception in chess: the idea that you can improve your rating simply by playing a massive number of games. I believe this notion is false. If you don't take the time to understand new concepts and apply them in your games, you'll likely keep making the same mistakes over and over. This can end up reinforcing those errors in your mind, limiting your ability to see chess in new ways. You might end up making blunders your habit.

Taking time to study chess is equally important if you want to get better.
