Why can I win against 700-1000 rated bots but not against any real player rated over 300?

cause the bots are extremely overrated

simple

im 1250

i can beat 1700 bots

its because bots dont play like humans

Yea I'm also rated 1250

And I'm capable of defeating a 1800

But I recently lost to a 1050 XD (welp maybe not since his bullet rating was 1500)

lol, this was a long time ago

Now I'm 1400 and could defeat up to 2200 lol

Ah, as time passes by

You know, there is one bot that actually is pretty good, and I think above their rating.  CodeMiko, she's a 600 bot, but plays like a 900 to 1000 human.

As everyone says, bots don't play like real humans. BUT, they're great if you want to train yourself to capitalize on errors. As was stated above, the bots will play flawlessly for a while, but then will make the most outrageous errors, allowing you to take the initiative. The secret lies in knowing when they've made those errors and then capitalizing on them. They're fun to train with, but in no way should you expect the same kind of play in live chess.

No.

yes humans are often less predictable, but I also agree with your other statement openings and tactics are good things to practice

Right, but some of the chess bots just blunder randomly. Humans play like humans. Actually, I see what you mean. If we take psychology into account, it can be unpredictable sometimes.

Bots are useless, as stated above. If you want a training partner - send me a challenge for a daily game(I don't have time to play rapid very often). This way you'll have time to think about your moves and improve faster happy.png

The answer to the forum question is obvious.

turkeyguy247

Try playing the lichess 1400 bots. They are way more balanced than chess.com bots.

They are the level 3 bots btw. I have way better games with the level 3 bots than I do with any chess.com bot.

Mikey383

I destroyed this bot which was supposed to be above my level

People achieve their rating linearly - meaning we learn our way up and sort of are what our rating says we are - generally we are about as strong as our rating. Bots are at their rating by being all over the map. At the level you're talking about, they'll start with really bad openings, then play really solid for 10 moves or so, then make clear and colossal blunders to sort of "average out" being at that rating. I've found It feels very different from playing a person.

ZIZI_07

Yeah also that bot was playing like crap

Laskersnephew

Don't play bots, play people! New players like to play bots, because they are afraid of losing to another person. The will play humans when they're "ready." You won't get better and you won't get better wasting your time playing bots. It's like wading in the kiddy pool. You need to get in the water and swim

JoeLovesCoco

thats true

Its because people may have a rating of 500 or lower or something, but they are tactically good, they know defenses, traps, and everything, They just play the LEAST amount of rated games, like me.. I was a 390 rated in rapid, now i'm 510 rated, see?

ShaanThebest

And also i had played many 400 rated players..

i find it when your playing against players lower rated than you. they make mistake/moves which you cant predict. if you pass that 700 mark i recon you'll go up to 1000 easily.

also i dont think you should be studying chess at a low level, or at least books

but there is a book i can recommend to players below 100 (Jose raul capablanca's chess fundamentals)

hope this helped!

Very good book, I made all the exercices and I improved my game with it!!
