I did the best move thinking it was a bad one.

Hi, I'm really new to chess (i played at the age of 8 at the school but that's all).
For now i just play and read the review of the match.
And i was facing a difficult situation in my opinion, it was kind of block. And i did this move thinking i was wasting the development of other piece.

And finally it was the best !
And i don't know why, is that because it was really blocked ?
